Airbyte-webapp not starting

Problem:
I created the EC2 and trying to get the services up and running. Every service starts up except the webapp. I believe it’s using the ngnix underneath and there is a docker logs error being displayed as under.

/docker-entrypoint.sh: Launching /docker-entrypoint.d/20-envsubst-on-templates.sh
20-envsubst-on-templates.sh: Running envsubst on /etc/nginx/templates/default.conf.template to /etc/nginx/conf.d/default.conf
/docker-entrypoint.sh: Launching /docker-entrypoint.d/30-tune-worker-processes.sh
/docker-entrypoint.sh: Configuration complete; ready for start up
2022/12/01 18:11:28 [emerg] 1#1: socket() [::]:80 failed (97: Address family not supported by protocol)
nginx: [emerg] socket() [::]:80 failed (97: Address family not supported by protocol)

In the template file (github repo, ngnix directory) , I did disable the following line
default.conf.template and still no luck. What is the fix for this? please help.

This seems to be the IPv6 related ngnix issue during the start of the webapp.

Hello there! You are receiving this message because none of your fellow community members has stepped in to respond to your topic post. (If you are a community member and you are reading this response, feel free to jump in if you have the answer!) As a result, the Community Assistance Team has been made aware of this topic and will be investigating and responding as quickly as possible.
Some important considerations that will help your to get your issue solved faster:

  • It is best to use our topic creation template; if you haven’t yet, we recommend posting a followup with the requested information. With that information the team will be able to more quickly search for similar issues with connectors and the platform and troubleshoot more quickly your specific question or problem.
  • Make sure to upload the complete log file; a common investigation roadblock is that sometimes the error for the issue happens well before the problem is surfaced to the user, and so having the tail of the log is less useful than having the whole log to scan through.
  • Be as descriptive and specific as possible; when investigating it is extremely valuable to know what steps were taken to encounter the issue, what version of connector / platform / Java / Python / docker / k8s was used, etc. The more context supplied, the quicker the investigation can start on your topic and the faster we can drive towards an answer.
  • We in the Community Assistance Team are glad you’ve made yourself part of our community, and we’ll do our best to answer your questions and resolve the problems as quickly as possible. Expect to hear from a specific team member as soon as possible.

Thank you for your time and attention.

This above set of lines keep repeating.
This is because of the [::]80 line being present in the ngnix configuration file.
My thinking is:

  1. Stop the webapp container

  2. Remove the webapp image

  3. Rebuild the webapp image using the local config (where I’ve commented out the ipv6 related line) - aka disable ipv6 listener line.

  4. Rebuild the proxy image since it has the depedency on webapp.

  5. Re-run.

If this is correct way, how to selectively build webapp container using the new configuration locally?

Please help.

Anybody has disabled the IPv6 on the webapp to start? I am wondering if I can pass any other args etc or not?

This is resolved now.

Hi, is the issue resolved in the 0.41.0 image available on docker hub?
Just executed the steps to Setup & launch Airbyte (Local Deployment | Airbyte Documentation) and I’m still getting the issue.

Can you please provide some feedback?

I’m still seeing this issue when using 0.42.0 on Debian 11.6. Is IPV6 on the host a strict requirement?
