Error communicating with dbt Cloud when adding transformation to connection

Summary

Users facing an error message ‘There was an error communicating with dbt Cloud’ when trying to add a transformation to a connection in dbt Cloud despite having an active service token for scheduled syncs.

Question

Hey all, I’m using dbt cloud and I’m trying to add a transformation to a connection. I have a service token active with dbt Cloud that is currently working for scheduled syncs. For some reason, though, when I click on the Transformation tab on any of my connections, I’m met with an error message that says “There was an error communicating with dbt Cloud”. This has been doing this for a few weeks now. Anyone else have this problem/any suggestions on how to fix? Thanks!

Are you on a “developer” (free) dbtCloud account by chance?
That tier does not include API access, which would explain the error.

<@U0397RT5AD6> nope, we pay for the Team tier of dbt Cloud. Great callout tho!

I would submit a support ticket in the webapp so we can take a more specific look on our side, then. I just checked in my own workspace with a dbt cloud token and was able to add a transformation, so hoping we can get you unblocked!

Thanks a ton <@U0397RT5AD6>, will do!
