Questions about Slack connector syncing and rate limiting

Summary

User has questions regarding the Slack connector’s behavior in syncing old messages and rate limiting issues. They are specifically interested in understanding if Airbyte will sync old messages when a channel is added after the configured start date, and if it’s possible to modify the connector code to only sync threads with replies.

Question

Hi, I have two slack connector questions:

  1. Assuming that I manually adding slack app to each channel, what would be the oldest synced message. If the connector configured to start syncing from 2018 and I add the app to the channel in 2024 will Airbyte sync old messages?
  2. We are hitting rate limiting issues. If we understand the connector code correctly it tries to sync threads for every message (even if there are no replays). Can we somehow change it to sync only threads with replays?
